Project: North Hotel

La Casa Norte’s North Hotel shelter is a short-term, non-congregate shelter with 40 rooms for unhoused youth ages 18-24. This important initiative will expand shelter capacity for the estimated 15,000 youth experiencing homelessness in Chicago, offering home-cooked meals, case management, educational opportunities, employment training, and life skills programs in a safe and supportive environment.

Each client is housed in their own unit with a private bedroom, en-suite bathroom, and mini-kitchenette, ensuring privacy, dignity, and safety, which are especially important for those who may have experienced trauma or exploitation.

In March 2026, we moved in 12 youth into the North Hotel’s first floor

Three of those youth have moved out and are living independently as of August 2026.

On August, 12, 2026 La Casa Norte broke ground on the North Hotel’s ground floor. Thanks to this groundbreaking, youth in the North Hotel and surrounding area will soon have access to:

  • A kitchen and community café

  • A drop-in center with a computer lounge

  • Therapeutic space

  • Staff offices for meetings and case management

The shelter operates 24/7 and provides a comprehensive array of services to support youth clients in their transition to stability, self-sufficiency, and independence.

La Casa Norte’s investment in the North Hotel represents a significant step forward in enhancing service delivery and ensuring the well-being and progress of homeless youth throughout the region.
